Japanese architecture - has as long a history as any other aspect of Japanese culture. Influenced heavily by Chinese architecture, it also shows a number of important differences and aspects which are uniquely Japanese.
Kenzo Tange - Kenzo Tange (丹下健三, Tange Kenzō; September 4, 1913 - March 22, 2005) was a Japanese architect, and winner of the 1987 Pritzker Prize for architecture. He was one of the most significant architects of the 20th century, combining traditional Japanese styles with modernism, and designed major buildings on five continents.
Josiah Conder - Josiah Conder (September 28 1852 - June 21 1920) was named the "Father of Japanese architecture". A British architect born in London, he designed the Rokumeikan (Hall of the Baying Stag) and educated many Japanese architects who later won distinction, notably Tatsuno Kingo who designed Tokyo Station.
