Nth Country Experiment - The Nth Country Experiment was an experiment conducted by Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory starting in May 1964 which sought to assess the risk of nuclear proliferation. The experiment consisted in paying three recent young physicists who had just received their PhDs, though had no prior weapons experience, to develop a working nuclear weapon design using only unclassified information, and with basic computational and technical support.
Nuclear engineering - Nuclear engineering is the practical application of the atomic nucleus gleaned from principles of nuclear physics and the interaction between radiation and matter. This field of engineering includes the design, analysis, development, testing, operation and maintenance of nuclear fission systems and components, specifically, nuclear reactors, nuclear power plants and/or nuclear weapons.
History of nuclear weapons - The history of nuclear weapons chronicles the development of nuclear weapons—devices of enormous destructive potential which derive their energy from nuclear fission or nuclear fusion reactions—starting with the scientific breakthroughs of the 1930s which made their development possible, continuing through the nuclear arms race and nuclear testing of the ...
Nuclear fuel - Nuclear fuel is any material that can be consumed to derive nuclear energy, by analogy to chemical fuel that is burned to derive energy. By far the most common type of nuclear fuel is heavy fissile elements that can be made to undergo nuclear fission chain reactions in a nuclear fission reactor; nuclear ...
Zakopane Conference on Nuclear Physics - The aim of the conference is to increase the mutual communication of physicists representing various areas of nuclear physics. The selection of topics to be discussed is directed to cover new developments in research of all nuclear physics rather than of few narrow subjects. Zakopane, Poland, 4-10 September 2006
MINERvA - Experiment in the NuMI beam at Fermilab, collaboration of Elementary Particle and Nuclear Physicists to study low-energy neutrino-nucleus interactions through the measurement of exclusive cross sections and neutrino-induced nuclear effects.
Contemporary (Nuclear) Physics Education Project (CPEP) - A product of teachers, educators, and physicists located around the world. Charts, brochures, web features, and classroom activities present the current understanding of cosmic rays, radiation, particle physics, fission ...
