Thyroid cancer - Thyroid cancer is cancer of the thyroid gland. There are four forms: papillary, follicular, medullary and anaplastic.
Head and neck cancer - Head and neck cancers are malignant growths originating in the lip and oral cavity (mouth), nasal cavity, pharynx, larynx, thyroid, paranasal sinuses, salivary glands and cervical lymph nodes of the neck. Head and neck cancers are most commonly squamous cell carcinomas, originating from the squamous cells that line the upper aerodigestive tract.
Thyroidectomy - A thyroidectomy involves the surgical removal all or part of the thyroid gland. Surgeons often perform a thyroidectomy when a patient has thyroid cancer or some other condition of the thyroid gland (such as hyperthyroidism).
